The good people at LEGO must have liked what they saw, because late last week they stopped by the IGN fortress to show off the next step in the LEGO evolution: Spybotics. Lego Spybotics are a little more expensive than traditional Lego’s but in my opinion they are well worth the price.A few weeks ago we took a look at the beastly LEGO 4X4 Off Roader, one of the company's latest creations and one of our dear art director's most recent accomplishments. Younger children are often too careless to properly care for a toy such as this. My suggestion on age range is probably around 8-12 depending on your child’s maturity and ability to care for their toys. I hope you will seriously consider checking this out to see if it’s something that might appeal to your child. While it may not offer the diversity and overall creativity that the Lego brand has become famous for, this product delivers on so many learning levels that the creative aspect is easy to overlook. Socialization is a skill that seems to get overlooked quite often in this day and age. Perhaps for me it would the multiplayer aspect which allows mom to have some ‘kid’ time on occasion and allows you child to play with others. It is difficult to find one thing that stands out above everything else. When I try and put a finger on what I like most about this product. This is a tool for learning that goes far beyond we would have ever expected of Lego brands in the past.
Lego Spybotics may not work to fuel your child’s imagination in quite the same way that traditional Lego products may.īut they do force your child to think about cause and effect, consequences, and the basic laws of physics. I think Lego’s had a ‘mind storm’ when they created this particular product. They are also developing critical problem solving skills. In order to fully enjoy all that the Lego Spybotics has to offer. Rather than sitting for hours in a computer chair, your children are getting much needed time on their feet.

You can even, in the absence of friends opt to play against an unmanned Spybotics vehicle. Not only does it offer self-entertainment, but it is great for groups of kids as well. Perhaps that is one of the coolest things about this in my opinion.
